Farida from the U.S. Tells Her Story of Studying Arabic for 2 Years
“The course curriculum is very practical, and you can have fun while learning.”
What inspired you to start studying Arabic?
I was inspired to study Arabic for 2 reasons: A) As a challenge to myself B) In a volunteer work I'm actively engaged in, I was meeting people from different parts of the world, some Arabic speaking people as well; so I decided to learn Arabic because of its diversity.
What has your experience been like at UCAN?
My experience at UCAN has been great! The staff are really friendly, and work hard to help you speak the language.
Tell us one of your favorite experiences or memories at UCAN?
One of my favorite experiences is when the lightbulb💡came on and I learned the word 'since' in Egyptian dialect... It's a small thing but it was a big one for me!
How has this program impacted your daily life or career?
The program has helped me to speak more clearly, express myself better, and heightened my understanding. I still have a ways to go, but a definite improvement!
What would you tell someone who is considering studying at UCAN? What should other potential students know?
I would tell students who are considering studying at UCAN, they should be serious about the lessons because the teachers work hard. The course curriculum is very practical, and have fun while learning. And for those students who may have learned classical Arabic, or another dialect, just relax...add this to your skill base.
Thank you, UCAN, for elevating my abilities in this language!
