Learn Why Rachel was Inspired to Study Arabic
“I feel that everyone at UCAN is family!”
What inspired you to start studying Arabic?
Well I knew right away when I moved to Egypt that I wanted to study some basic Arabic to help me in my daily life, but I had also previously lived in Korea and studied Korean, and ever since then I had become very interested in language learning as something to just do for fun as a hobby.
What has your experience been like at UCAN?
Really lovely! I really feel like everyone at UCAN is like family. It feels more like a group of supportive friends rather than just a group of teachers.
Tell us one of your favorite experiences or memories at UCAN.
When I got put together in a class with a sweet girl from Korea.
How has this program impacted your daily life or career?
I’m now doing my Master’s Degree in the department of Applied Linguistics at AUC, and my background knowledge in Arabic is really helping me to understand a lot more of the concepts. Also, it’s really nice to be able to understand more of what my Egyptian friends are saying when they’re speaking in Arabic; it really helps me to feel more at home in Egypt and a part of Egyptian society.
What would you tell someone who is considering studying at UCAN? What should other potential students know?
DO IT!
